Publishing a fabulous magazine is just one of many things that The New Quarterly does to support new Canadian writers. When they aren't reading and responding to the hundreds of manuscripts they receive each year, our editors are adjudicating local writing contests, visiting high schools, hawking the magazine at arts festivals, speaking at conferences, planning events in celebration of our writers or nominating them for national prizes. Visit this page for updates on what else is going on at TNQ.

TNQ and Kathleen Winter win the SILVER award for Fiction at the 2008 National Magazine Awards for "You Can Keep One Thing" (issue 103).
Gold goes to Steven Heighton, a frequent TNQ contributor, for a story in The Walrus.
As always, TNQ cheered wildly from the balcony for both of these fantastic writers.

TNQ is thrilled to celebrate the appointment of Tim and Elke Inkster of The Porcupine's Quill to the Order of Canada.
"For their distinctive contributions to publishing in Canada and for their promotion of new authors, as co-founders of The Porcupine's Quill, a small press known for the award-winning beauty and quality of its books."
Our warmest congratulations to our friends who will become Members of the Order of Canada.
